Plans are underway for the 2016 Gilstrap Family Reunion to be held July 8-10 in Red River, New Mexico. Red River is located at an altitude of 8,750' on the beautiful Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway in northeastern New Mexico. The average summer temperature is 75 degrees in the daytime and 38 degrees at night.
The Elk Ridge Lodge, located on the east side of town, will be the headquarters for the reunion. The lodge will provide us with a large meeting room. (The deposit will be returned at check-out if the room is left clean and orderly.) With this setup, people can come and go as they wish. Those that want to sit around and visit can do so, and there are plenty of activities in the area for those that want to do some sightseeing or day trips. (Check out the Red River links on the lower right corner of the homepage.) Rooms are available next door at the Golden Eagle Lodge should the Elk Ridge Lodge fill. There are several RV parks and campgrounds in the area as well.
The Elk Ridge Lodge offers a number of room configurations ranging from motel units to 1 and 2 bedroom kitchenette units, sleeping 3-7 people. Prices range from $95 to $125 a night. All units are non-smoking and include free WiFi. Pets are allowed for a fee. Some larger units are available at the Golden Eagle Lodge Can accomodate 2-16 people in their units (rates are a little higher). Marla can help you decide which unit best meets your needs.

We are excited about being back in Red River and are planning some fun activities for everyone! Saturday will be the BIG day, so if you can only attend one day, plan on Saturday (schedule not available at this time).
Schedule includes Friday evening "Get Acquainted" with finger foods, Saturday cookout, and Sunday breakfast. As plans are made, meal information will be posted here and in Facebook.
The reunion would not be complete without the Saturday night Talent Show, and we definitely have some talented Gilstraps!
