July 8-10, 2016 - Red River, NM

Elk Ridge Lodge

Over 50 people attended the 2014 Gilstrap Family Reunion in beautiful Red River, New Mexico, July 11-13. Certificates were presented to the youngest & oldest present, the one with the most family members present, and the one that travelled the farthest.

Red River, New Mexico, is once again the site for the 2016 Gilstrap Family Reunion. Red River is located in high country of the Sangre de Christo range of the Rocky Mountains at an altitude of 8,750'.

The reunion will be hosted at the Elk Ridge Lodge located on the east end of town in a quiet, peaceful setting. All the amenities of Red River are easily accessible, many within walking distance. The lodge will provide us with a large meeting room and overflow rooms can be booked at the Golden Eagle Lodge next door.

“I have been attending the reunions for several years and have enjoyed meeting and spending time with family members. Even though I don't see some of them between reunions, it doesn't feel like two years have passed. It is good to spend time with everyone and catch up on what is going on with them and their families. We have a great family and I hope the younger generation will carry on the tradition." Ron Gilstrap

The first reunion was held in 1968, and we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the reunion in Wichita, Kansas, in July 2008. Gilstraps from across the United States attend the reunion which is held every two years. Read more about the history of the reunion.
